Causes of Low Self Confidence in Men

It is normally assumed that men, unlike women, are not sensitive and hence their self confidence can hardly be hurt. On the contrary, many studies show that men are sensitive and are equally at risk, like women, of developing low self confidence. Some of the most common causes of low self confidence in men are discussed below.

Symptoms Low Self Confidence in Men

Men with low self confidence will often be found to be extra adjusting with their seniors at work place in order to avoid any disagreements or misunderstanding. A truly irritated nature comes out in front of a person with whom he can be dominating.

Usually, it is the wife and the kids that have to bear with the unpredictable violent behavior. Low self confidence in men can lead to divorce, bad psychological effects on children and alcohol or drug dependency.

Financial Problems

Less money is a major cause of low confidence in men. From time immemorial, men are observed as the bread earners of the family. Even though the thousands of years have passed still, men still believe, by watching elder males in the society, that respect of a male in the society is determined by the weight in his pocket.

It deteriorates their self esteem. They need to feel financially secure to feel good about themselves.

Discouraging Partner

Some may take it as a joke and others may justify about a woman playing a dominating role in the house. But if the tide of domination is too strong it can wash away confidence of the male partner.

There is a large possibility that children may not respect their father by watching the mother disrespecting him. Lack of respect and support from the family gives a serious blow to his self respect.

Rejection and Infidelity

Courtship by men is common. But a few men can take it too seriously. Long periods of courtship that end with empty hands may leave a permanent mark on his ego, shredding his self esteem.

Rejection could also be because of the parents. Extra affection towards the daughter may be cause of low self confidence in some men.

It takes time for a man to commit to a woman. If she betrays him in any way after all the efforts he has put into the relationships, the man feels completely shattered.

Work Place Problem

Most of the men like to look respected and so do not like to discuss about a disrespectful working environment. A major sign is that he will greatly dislike it when you ask him about the work in office. In severe cases line similar to, “you get money on time is it not enough for you to know?”

Infertility

Nothing can be more disturbing to a man than the fact that he is the cause behind lack of fertilization. Needless to say, it is an extremely sensitive issue.

Publically Done Criticism

Most men like to lead their ladies in the society and expect them to follow them. An insult in the public by a dear one or a joke may leave him with low confidence.

An indecent family background may also make a boy grow up into a man who does not have enough self respect or self confidence.
